Carolina Band
The “Mighty Sound of the Southeast” - the Carolina Band, performs in front of tens of thousands of Gamecock fans each and every week and is the largest and most visible student organization on campus. Members of the Carolina Band are majors from virtually every school at the university and over 75% of the band members are majoring in something other than music. Benefits of membership include being part of a terrific group of people with common backgrounds and interests, being active participants in the Gamecock game day experience, traveling to perform at other great stadiums throughout the SEC, and traveling to support the Gamecocks at postseason games such as the SEC Championship Game and Bowl Games. In addition, all members of the Carolina Band receive a scholarship for marching in the band.
Out-Of-State Tuition Reductions
In addition, all out-of-state full-time Carolina Band students who are not already receiving a tuition reduction from other scholarships or sources on campus will receive a tuition reduction for the fall and spring semesters of the 2012-13 academic year. Based on the 2011-2012 tuition rates, this waiver reduces out-of-state tuition from $12,976 per semester and $25,952 per year to $7,140 per semester and $14,280 per year. That is a savings of over $11,500 for out-of-state students marching in the Carolina Band!

The band rehearses Tuesday thru Friday from 5:00 - 6:30 at our brand new $10 Million state-of-the-art rehearsal facility.
To become a member of the Carolina Band, you must:
• Attend our Pre-Season Camp - New Members and all auxiliaries begin Monday, August 13, 2012
• Be enrolled at USC or one of the area community colleges for Fall 2012
• Enroll in the class (MUSC 123)
